Literacy Test

Successful completion of the OSSLT is a requirement for high school graduation.  All students take the test in Grade 10. If your child  is in grade 10 now or was previously unsuccessful on the test, they will have the opportunity to write the test.

 Graduation Requirement:

  • The OSSTL measures whether or not students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of grade 9.
  • Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
  • All students can also practice for the literacy test online at www.eqao.com

EQAO's website contains *Student, *Parent and  *Video/Web links sections.

Students eligible for extra time will have the afternoon time block (if needed) to complete the OSSLT.
