GLE Courses

The GLE program gives students the opportunity to develop the skills they will need to succeed in high school and in the community. This course explores learning strategies and helps students become better, more independent learners while improving their personal management skills, both in school and other contexts. Our program encourages students to improve their social skills by focusing on active listening, participating in group activities and providing opportunities to practice these skills in class and out in the community. Life skills such as money management, transit training, self-advocacy, baking, conflict resolution and stress-management techniques are developed throughout the course. We also support our students by encouraging them to get involved in the school community and provide awareness to community programs that may be of interest. Throughout the GLE program will learn how to develop and apply a range of strategies to improve their learning and achievement, particularly their literacy, numeracy, communication, and planning skills. As students improve in these areas, their confidence, motivation, and ability to learn tends to increase.
