Dear Peel District School Board Families,
This is an important message for students enrolled full-time in online learning in the PDSB Online School. Please disregard if you are enrolled in the in-person/adaptive learning model.
With over 64,000 students enrolled in the Peel District School Board Online School (PDSB Online School), we are excited to welcome you back for another year of learning together – even if it's from a distance.
As we prepare for the first day of online classes on Sept. 21 for elementary students (kindergarten to grade 8) and Sept. 22 for secondary students (grade 9 to 12), the board has developed a Family Handbook to support families and each student's learning needs. This handbook provides an overview of what you can expect as your child/teen engages in distance learning only from home. Please take the time to read the document in its entirety.
In the Family Handbook, families will find a message from the Interim Director of Education Colleen Russell-Rawlins, as well as information on:
- Code of Conduct
- Distance Learning roles and responsibilities
- Curriculum delivery
- Forms - Please note that PDSB Online School students are required to complete the elementary or secondary consent form and return the completed form to their home community school at their convenience.
- Contact information
- Elementary students enrolled in PDSB Online School can find a list of the PDSB Online School administrators and their contact information based on their home community school.
- Secondary students enrolled in PDSB Online School can contact [email protected] if they have any questions or concerns.
Sept. 14 to 18: elementary students are continuing to work on online learning experiences at their own pace. These learning experiences are organized by grade level and connected to the Ontario and Alternative curriculum, with a focus on numeracy and literacy. Between Sept. 17 and 18, elementary students in the PDSB Online School will be contacted by staff and teachers to welcome students, and provide more details about online instruction, schedules and tools.
Sept. 15 to 21: secondary students are continuing to work on a cross-curricular learning inquiry projects aligned to particular core subjects (i.e. English, Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences). These projects will be reviewed by teachers as a pre-instruction assessment opportunity to gauge where students are in their learning. Access to project details are available on our PDSB Online School Learning website.
By Sept. 18, secondary students will receive their timetable for the quadmester through their Peel student email accounts.
If you require a device, please speak with your principal at your home school. We sincerely thank all parents/caregivers, staff and students for your understanding, patience and kindness as we strive to provide equitable opportunities and outcomes for all PDSB Online School distance learners.
