Dear North Park Secondary School Families,

I'm writing to inform you of a situation that occurred at our school today. At approximately 2 p.m., we received a report of a student with a potential weapon on school property. We immediately contacted Peel Regional Police who arrived quickly to investigate.

The police immediately apprehended the individual and isolated the student from staff and students. Given that the student is under the age of 18, we are unable to share any other information regarding the police investigation. I want to assure you that students and staff are safe.

Once police complete their investigation, we will conduct our own investigation at the school to determine appropriate discipline based on the Peel District School Board's Safe Schools policy.

Police have not indicated any need for increased safety precautions. We are continuing to work with Police to investigate the matter. Please be assured that we are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students.

We take situations like these very seriously. The safety of our students is always our top priority. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please call me at the school.
