Each counsellor is responsible for a group of students. A student's counsellor is determined by the first letter of the student's last name:

The Counselling Department can help students in the following ways: |

Educational Guidance |
• Course selection and program planning • Resolving timetable concerns |
• Identifying alternate methods of achieving credits (i.e. summer school, night school, distance learning, alternative schooling options) |
• Investigating post-secondary pathways (i.e. workplace, apprenticeship,college, university) |
• Providing information about scholarships, bursaries, and student loans • Acacemic supports • Volunteerism |

• Dealing with problems at school, home, or work |
• Providing contact information for other community agencies and resources |
• Providing information about leadership opportunities |
Counsellors are available in the morning before classes, during lunch, and after school. Students are required to book an appointment (unless it is an emergency) to see their guidance counsellor through Ms. De Angelis. If a parent wishes to see a counsellor, they should book an appointment. Appointments are required to register a child at Rick Hansen Secondary School.
