The Streetsville French Immersion program teaches the requirements of the Ministry of Ontario's French as a Second Language curriculum and also follows the levels of language learning as outlined by of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). This framework adequately prepares students to write the level B1 or B2 DELF (Diplôme des études en langue française) exam, which certifies French language skills on a standardized level and is internationally recognized. This exam is optional and independent of the Ontario curriculum, and not a requirement of the French Immersion Program completion.
In 2019, our school was chosen to participate in a pilot project where the DELF exam was administered to our students. In May 2019, 41 grade twelve French Immersions student successfully completed the B1 or B2 exam! The opportunity to write this optional exam varies year to year and is based on funding from the Ministry of Education.
