Parent Affinity Group

Parent Affinity Group

Any families who identify as Black, Caribbean or African are invited to attend the first meeting of the Parent Affinity Group to provide input into the actions necessary for our school to undertake to dismantle racism.

Turner Fenton SS would like to extend an invitation to all families who identify as Black, Caribbean or African.  Our school is acting upon the Ministry Review of our school board.  This includes understanding the data that clearly identifies systemic racism in our schools and more importantly the actions necessary for our school to undertake to dismantle racism.  We want parent input into this plan and also need parents to help hold our school accountable to actions we undertake.  For this reason, we will be creating a ‘Parent Affinity Group’.

Our first meeting will be held virtually and will take place on Thursday, January 21st from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.  I invite any families who identify as Black, Caribbean or African to attend our first meeting and learn more about the Ministry Directive and how you can provide input into this important work at Turner Fenton.  If you are interested, I ask that you complete the registration form by clicking the link below or call our school at 905-453-9220 and leave your name, child’s name, and a phone number stating that you are interested in the Parent Affinity Group.  We will be in touch with how to connect virtually to our upcoming meeting when we return to school in January.
