Dear Turner Fenton Secondary School staff and families,
I'm writing to inform you that we have been made aware that another individual who was at our school has tested positive for COVID-19. Peel Public Health is continuing with their investigation and has confirmed the virus was contracted in the community, not in our school. At this time, Peel Public Health has not directed any additional classroom closures at our school.
Peel Public Health will contact anyone determined to be a close contact. Staff and students who have not been contacted by Peel Public Health should continue to attend school as usual. Only students and staff who are symptomatic or advised by Peel Public Health need to get tested.
Our building is currently safe and will remain open for students and staff. As you know, the school undergoes a thorough cleaning and sanitizing daily as part of our enhanced cleaning protocol, and an additional cleaning has taken place. Our physical distancing and mask rules are also designed to help prevent spread and lower risk. Peel Public Health will let us know if any other measures need to be taken to reduce the risk of transmission.
The identity of the person is protected under privacy legislation and cannot be shared. I know this may frustrate you, but you would want this privacy if it was someone in your family. Everyone deserves the same protection.
Keeping you informed is part of our commitment to you. You can find information about that commitment on the Peel board web site. Please visit Peel Public Health's web site for information on how they are working with the Peel board to help keep staff and students safe at school.
Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other. We can do this by following the advice of public health agencies and government officials. Please review their advice on how you can protect yourself and others from COVID-19.
